The Bougie Bar, a local DIY candle-making business is moving from 209 Jefferson Street to a new space at 426 Jefferson Street in Downtown Lafayette, formerly occupied by Be Jiu-jitsu.
After three years at its current location, the candle-making business is relocating to gain better visibility along the downtown corridor.

“Visibility and accessibility are everything in retail,” said bougie bar’s owners. “After three years in our current space, we realized we weren’t getting the full benefit of downtown traffic patterns. The new location puts us right in the middle of that energy.”
The new storefront features large, street-facing windows designed to showcase the candle-making experience to anyone passing by. The owners say the new layout will also create a more intimate and connected setting for private events.

The Bougie Bar will continue to host a variety of celebrations, including birthdays, bachelorette parties, office outings, and more. Retail offerings will remain a part of the business, with a mix of novelty items and locally made products. New lines are also being introduced, such as candles with witty sayings, body butters, room sprays, wax melts, and car fresheners.
Another change coming with the move is a planned collaboration with Sundays Soda Fountain, a nearby local restaurant. “We’re exploring a partnership that would let our guests easily bring food and drinks to their events,” they explained. “It’s a win for our customers and another way to support fellow downtown businesses.”

This will be The Bougie Bar’s third relocation within Downtown Lafayette. While the owners looked at other areas of town, they ultimately decided to remain downtown. “Downtown has a unique vibe, and it’s where The Bougie Bar belongs,” they said.
The new Bougie Bar location at 426 Jefferson Street is tentatively set to open in mid-October.
