Zeus Mediterranean Kitchen Coming Soon to Former Pizza Hut on Pinhook Road in Lafayette, LA

on

Zeus Mediterranean Kitchen is coming soon to the former Pizza Hut restaurant at 1821 W. Pinhook Road in Lafayette, Louisiana.

The new location will replace the original Zeus restaurant that closed late last year in the Oil Center at 1103 W. Pinhook Road.

The former Pizza Hut, which closed in early February 2026, is being renovated to to make way for the new Zeus restaurant. Plans include interior updates, kitchen renovations, a fresh exterior paint job, and the addition of a new drive-thru window.

The drive-thru addition will be interesting, as the existing building was not originally designed for one. Where the window will be installed and how vehicles will navigate the property remains to be seen.

Founded by Nidal Balbeisi in August 2002, Zeus Mediterranean Kitchen got its start at the corner of W. Pinhook Road and S. Audubon Blvd. in Lafayette, LA. From that original location, Zeus grew into the well-known Mediterranean brand with locations throughout Acadiana.

Spicy Chicken Wrap (always my goto)

The original Pinhook location closed in November 2025 following plans for redevelopment of the Travelodge property. According to information shared with us, the initial plans involved demolishing the former hotel and adjacent buildings, including the spaces occupied by Zeus and a barbershop.

There had also been discussions about constructing a new building on that property to accommodate Zeus. However, those plans have not materialized, and demo work at the former Travelodge property has not begun.

Original Zeus Location on Pinhook

With this move, Zeus will remain on West Pinhook Road, just a short hop, skip, and jump away from its original home, while moving closer to the busier intersection of Pinhook and Kaliste Saloom Road.

The new location will also share a shopping center with School Time Uniforms, Today’s Big Deals, and the coming soon Planet Fitness, which is taking over the former Office Depot space directly behind the restaurant. This will be a perfect combination as Mediterranean is known to be a healthier option.

The move will also place Zeus near another longtime Mediterranean restaurant, Zorba’s, located across W. Pinhook Road. While the two restaurants offer similar food, we’re told that the owners know each other and are on friendly terms.

As of now, the anticipated opening date for the new Zeus is set for January 1st, 2027, which is around the same time the neighboring Planet Fitness is expected to open.
