Zarape Taco Shop Coming Soon To Former El Patron Taqueria On N. University

on

A new locally-owned taco shop, called Zarape Tacos y Gorditas, is coming soon to the former El Patron Taqueria at 2106 N. University Ave.

Zarape Taco Shop has very little information available to the public on social media that would lend to understanding the business fully. However, there are a few photos showing renderings of how the dining room for the restaurant is to look. Based purely on that alone, we get the fast-casual vibe with its order counter set to the left as you walk into the restaurant. The renderings also show several neon signs, fun pops of color, and a large Zarape Taco Shop logo on the back wall.

Last week, we stopped by the location to grab our photos, but no one was available to talk. There was proof of construction with sawdust and other things showing progress. There is also a banner showing “La Bodega”, which is what this was right before this building closed.

We reached out to Urbano’s Taco Bar owners to see if they may have involvement in Zarape Taco Shop, and they have confirmed no, they do not.

So in conclusion, we do that they sell tacos, gorditas, and most likely several other tasty items. As for an opening date, construction is underway, so we estimate a month or so.
