Southside Bakery’s Retirement Closure Brings New Sonny’s Quick Stop

on

Southside Bakery, located at 4519 W Congress, has officially closed on the count of retirement after serving the Lafayette community since 1953.

“Since 1953 Southside Bakery has had the privilege to serve our friends in Acadiana. Through the years we have helped celebrate the many milestones life awards us. From first birthdays, communions, weddings and retirements, we were honored to share your families joys.

We are so grateful for your support and humbled to be considered a Lafayette tradition. With a gracious heart the Guilbeaux family says farewell and welcomes our loyal customers back to visit, as we hand over the keys to an exciting new establishment.” — Southside Bakery

Although the well-known bakery has closed its doors, they are excited to welcome Sonny’s Quick Stop who will be moving into the space within 3-4 weeks.

Sonny’s Quick Stop will be a complete convenient store serving BBQ, and deli items like hamburgers, poboys, and baked goods. Word is that Sonny’s will continue to serve many of the popular bakery items once sold at Southside Bakery.

At the moment, there aren’t any social media accounts for Sonny’s, but they are coming.
