Bubba’s 33 is coming soon to 3511 Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette, Louisiana, where the now-former Tokyo Japan Steakhouse & Sushi property is located.
Tokyo Japan recently announced that its lease at the Ambassador Caffery location is up and will not be renewed, so they are looking at a new location. The rumored location is the former Tsubaki by Koi building at 3564 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, which recently became available after Tsubaki relocated to 803 W. Pinhook Road in Lafayette’s Oil Center.

Now-former Tokyo Japan Steakhouse & Sushi space
Tsubaki by Koi shared that their former building would be undergoing a major renovation, which could track for Tokyo Japan to move into the slightly smaller renovated space. An official announcement on that will ultimately come from Tokyo Japan’s socials.
As for the former Tokyo building at 3511 Ambassador, a permit for a new Bubba’s 33 is currently moving through the Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) permitting system. The former Tokyo Japan building is said to be demolished to make way for an all-new restaurant building featuring Bubba’s signature design.

The location makes sense being that Bubba’s 33 was created by Kent Taylor, founder of Texas Roadhouse, and is part of the same restaurant company. The new Lafayette Bubba’s 33 would sit directly catacorner from Texas Roadhouse location on Ambassador Caffery.
The first Bubba’s 33 opened in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 2013, and the concept has grown to more than 50 locations. A typical Bubba’s 33 is around 6,700 square feet, seats about 237 guests, and features more than 26 large HDTVs throughout the restaurant showing sports and music videos.

The menu is focused around made-from-scratch American food, including half-pound burgers, stone-baked pizzas. Bubba’s 33 will also feature traditional and boneless wings, steaks, chicken, sandwiches, pasta, salads, appetizers and ice-cold beer. According to their website, their top selling item is the Bubba’s Bacon Burger, made with their signature Bacon Grind that contains 33% bacon.
Another good sign that this project is moving forward is that Bubba’s 33 is already hiring managers for its new Lafayette location through the company’s website and some third-party job sites.
As of right now, there are no official demolition, construction or opening dates available. However, with several months left in 2026, we could potentially begin seeing movement on the property before the end of the year.
