KK’s Café of Youngsville Expanding to Carencro, Taking Over Former Pizza Amore Space

on

KK’s Café, a locally owned Youngsville-based restaurant known for its homestyle menu and family-oriented atmosphere, is expanding with a second location coming soon to the now-former Pizza Amore space at 3730 NE Evangeline Thruway.

Pizza Amore first opened at the location in 2023, taking over the former La Pizzeria space. After several successful years in business, Pizza Amore owners decided to seek out another local business interested in assuming the lease and purchasing some of the restaurant’s equipment. After several months, an agreement was reached with KK’s Café.

Located at 905 Savoy Road in Youngsville, LA, KK’s Café has steadily built a loyal following since Lee and Wendy Oubre purchased the business seven years ago.

“We purchased the business seven years ago. We kept the name and the menu, and then we slowly started redoing the recipes to our recipes, cooking the food the way we would’ve cooked the food and added to the menu,” said owner Lee Oubre. “Myself, my wife Wendy, my three children, and my oldest grandson all work here, plus other family members.”

KK’s Café is locally known for featuring everything from breakfast and burgers to seafood platters, true Cajun dishes, and a variety of bakery items. Some breakfast items include the Triple Play breakfast platter, homemade biscuits topped with sausage gravy, traditional omelets, and specialty items such as the Crawfish Étouffée Biscuit and KK’s Shrimp & Grits.

Lunch and dinner menus feature seafood platters, chicken fried steak, crawfish étouffée, red beans and rice, po-boys, wraps, burgers, and fresh salads. The menu also features sandwiches such as the Monte Cristo, Cuban Sandwich, and house-made chicken salad sandwich, along with salads including Cobb, Greek, Buffalo, Berry & Chicken, and Spinach & Blackberry salads.

The restaurant is also known for its bakery items, particularly its cheesecakes, which many customers consider among the best in Acadiana.

In many cases, businesses expand into Youngsville due to the city’s continued growth and perceived economic wealth. It’s not often that we see the reverse happen, where a business that started in Youngsville expands out and  into another Lafayette Parish city. So to see KK’s Café make that move into Carencro is exciting not only for them but for us out here in the Cro.

Concepts such as McAlister’s Deli or Jason’s Deli are frequently requested by Carencro locals looking for fresh salads, sandwiches, and lighter lunch options without having to leave town. While KK’s Café isn’t a direct replacement for those concepts, we think that this is the appropriate business to fill that gap in the market.

While an official opening date has not yet been announced, KK’s Café is hoping to open the Carencro location near the end of the summer, just as the new school year begins.
