The former Don’s Seafood building, located at 301 E Vermilion Street, is officially set to be demolished to make way for the city’s newest 83-room boutique hotel, Hotel Lafayette.
Hotel Lafayette is designed to be a modern yet locally inspired destination, featuring two premier suites, a restaurant concept (yet to be named) reflective of the region’s culture, and an outdoor pool and bar. Additionally, the hotel will include 2,500 square feet of event space, catering to both business travelers and locals.

Sans Souci Properties, The Thrash Group, and Tandem Hospitality Group announced that demolition will begin this month, with completion planned before Festival International de Louisiane. This marks a major milestone in the redevelopment of the site, which will bring a world-class hospitality experience to the heart of Acadiana.
“This is a major moment for our vision! The demolition process sets the stage for something truly special. We are eager to create a hotel that reflects Lafayette’s character while offering a modern, world-class experience for both visitors and locals. ”said Gus Rezende, Managing Partner at Sans Souci Properties.

With construction set to begin immediately after demolition, Hotel Lafayette remains on track for a tentative Summer 2026 completion.
