Njoy Curry Masala, New Indian Restaurant Opens In Downtown Lafayette

A new Indian restaurant, called Njoy Curry Masala, opens in the former Rivals Sports Grill located at the corner of 1012 Jefferson Street & Johnston in Downtown Lafayette.

Owners Joy Singh & Navvi Kaur recently opened Njoy Curry Masala, named after their young son Njoy Singh. The name is a combination of the husband & wife’s names to create “Njoy”. We love that!

The new downtown Lafayette restaurant is led by head Chef Raj who has over 16 years of experience cooking throughout many regions including aboard the Carnival Cruise ships as a chef.

Njoy Curry Masala began the process of opening the restaurant back in November of 2023 and has officially opened today, January 25th.

The menu at Njoy features many of the popular Indian dishes that many have come to love like butter chicken, tikka masala, curry, and biryani. You can also find such meats like chicken, obviously, lamb, goat, shrimp, fish, and lobster. If you aren’t a meat eater, they do have a nice selection of vegetarian dishes as well.

The owners and staff are super friendly and helpful in navigating the menu for those who aren’t familiar with the cuisine. They even sat us down and had us try the chicken biryani, even though we had already eaten lunch! But you already know we aren’t going to turn away a friendly gesture, especially food, Lord! We loved the biryani! We didn’t eat it all in one sitting, you know, because we had just eaten but, we definitely are taking it home.

Y’all go give this lovely family a visit. Parking is easy at the moment with parking directly across the street on Jefferson and in the evenings at the bank and on the side of Keller’s.
