A 10 million dollar investment into the safety & security of Lafayette Parish’s community comes in the form of a new, 23,000 SF, state-of-the-art 911 communications building that will soon be constructed at 1810 W Willow Street.
“built for not only today’s needs but to also adequately accommodate for 25 or more years expected growth of Lafayette Parish.”
— For the past 36 years, the 911 center has been located at 800 S. Buchanan Street. Due to growth, expansion of services, and advances in technology, a new facility is desperately needed.
In 1983, under the direction of then Director Bill Vincent, Lafayette Parish was the first in the State of Louisiana to go on-line with an enhanced 911 emergency telephone system which offered 911 services to its citizens.
We anticipate future growth. This building will allow us the room to hire additional personnel.
With this new facility, Lafayette Parish will once again be a leader in providing the latest in public safety communications technology and will be the first in the state with an advanced 911 cloud-based CAD system. This facility will allow 911 and other public safety agencies in the parish to provide the citizens of Lafayette Parish the best emergency services possible.
