A new 31,000-square-foot orthopedics and sports medicine expansion is currently under construction at Ochsner Lafayette General Orthopedic Center, 4212 W. Congress Street, Lafayette, LA.
The new renovations and expansion are estimated to cost $19 million smackers. This comprehensive upgrade will add a 17,200-square-foot enhancement to the existing Orthopedic facilities and a 14,000-square-foot expansion dedicated to Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine services.

The upcoming expansion marks a significant milestone in sports medicine and injury care, introducing a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance athlete performance, recovery, and injury prevention. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the facility will feature anti-gravity treadmills, advanced controlled resistance testing, and a variety of indoor and outdoor training surfaces, including professional-grade turf.
In addition to advanced rehabilitation and performance tools, the expansion will include:
• 17 additional exam rooms and 2 triage rooms
• 2 additional radiology rooms
• 2 additional treatment rooms
• A new elevator for improved patient access
• An expanded lobby area
• Private rooms for in-office procedures and brace fittings
• A dedicated patient drop-off area with a centralized reception and admissions space
The exterior will showcase a sleek, modern design featuring aluminum composite panels and expansive glazing, reinforcing the facility’s commitment to innovation and excellence.

This building, originally built in 1985 and renovated in 2018, is a key part of the Lafayette community. It aims to improve the standard of care provided to local athletes. The facility has a dedicated team of 35 athletic trainers, 6 physical therapists, and 12 physicians. This team will enhance care efficiency and ensure that athletes receive top-quality treatment right at their schools.
The Ochsner Lafayette General Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute expansion is projected to be completed in theFall of 2025.
Following the completion of this major renovation & expansion, Ochsner Lafayette General Orthopedic Center will be referred to as Ochsner Lafayette General Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute.
