A third Lafayette location for 7 Brew Coffee is planned for the former Bourque’s Specialty Market property at 3211 Johnston Street, the same building that was also once Sophie P Cupcakes.
According to development documents provided courtesy of The Acadiana Advocate (shown below), the existing multi-tenant building, which includes the former Bourque’s Specialty Market and several neighboring business spaces, is slated for demolition to make way for the new drive-thru coffee spot.
The project will come just across Johnston Street from the former Sticks Billiards property, which was recently demolished to make way for a new Chipotle location. Similar to that redevelopment, the existing businesses occupying the Johnston Street building will first need time to relocate before demolition can begin.

Once complete, the Johnston Street location would become 7 Brew’s third Lafayette store, following its first location at the 4800 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and its second location currently under construction in the 3200 block of Ambassador.

Known for its drive-thru-only model, 7 Brew offers a wide variety of coffees, espresso-based drinks, energy drinks, teas, smoothies, shakes, and flavored beverages, with customers able to customize drinks from an extensive menu of syrups and add-ins.
The planned Johnston Street location also continues what appears to be the company’s strategy of opening near established Starbucks stores. Its first Lafayette location opened near Starbucks on Ambassador Caffery Parkway, while the second is being built directly behind another Starbucks near Walmart on Ambassador. Although, the previously planned Starbucks for the former Wendy’s site on Johnston Street is no longer moving forward, the new 7 Brew location will still be located in one of Lafayette’s busiest coffee corridors, just a short jump from Jet Coffee.

Lafayette’s coffee market has continued to expand over the past several years with new locations from Dutch Bros, Scooter’s Coffee, Jet Coffee, CC’s Coffee House, and Dunkin’, reflecting continued demand for both drive-thru and sit-down coffee concepts throughout the parish.
No estimated construction or opening timeline has been announced as plans continue to progress. As with many redevelopment projects involving occupied commercial buildings, demolition is expected to follow after existing tenants have relocated.
