The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, yesterday, published information about a new university housing, and retail project that will start construction next week. The new complex will be constructed where Youth Park is currently, at the corner of Johnston & E. Lewis Street. The University purchased Youth Park back in 2012 with plans to expand housing needs.
The new university housing complex will consist of about 600 new beds, and about 5,000 square feet of first level retail space.
“Once built, the facility will offer students a choice of two-, three-, and four-bedroom units. Each furnished apartment will have a full kitchen, and washer and dryer. Meal plans will be offered, but not required.” — Louisiana.edu
The new complex will include a swimming pool, sand volleyball court, and grilling pavilion. It will also have a clubhouse that will feature a fitness center, study and game rooms, and a lounge.
Estimated completion for the new housing, and retail complex is set for Fall 2019.
