Victory Garden’s Newly Completed Memorial Pavilion

on

Town Folk’s Victory Garden, located at 217 Olivier Street in Downtown Lafayette, recently completed construction of its new memorial pavilion honoring one of their founders, Jillian Johnson.

The Victory Garden was established in 2015 as a community garden, which provides fresh fruit and vegetables to neighborhood residents free of charge.

A free, family-friendly, picnic-style dedication of the Victory Garden Pavilion, a memorial to Jillian Johnson, will be held on March 7, 2020, at 2 PM. All are welcome to bring a picnic lunch, blankets, and chairs. Onsite music will be performed by Sweet Cecilia. See the event details here.

The new pavilion is designed by Hector LaSala, an architecture professor at ULL, and was completed & constructed by Architecture and Construction firm, db Architecture of Acadiana.

DB agreed to join the efforts of Town Folks in bringing the Victory Garden pavilion to life. They have donated 100% of their design services and construction services.

Known donors are db Architecture of Acadiana who have provided a complete Architectural drawing set for the project, construction & assembly, and all heavy Douglas Fir wood for the floor deck. Doug Ashy has also donated nuts, washers, bolts, and other miscellaneous items for the pavilion.
