According to our recent aerial photos, the foundation appears to be nearing completion and crews have started forming the building’s exterior walls. The overall footprint of the structure is now clearly visible from above, providing a good look at the building’s layout and scale.
Although the Lafayette location is not currently listed on Trader Joe’s official “Opening Soon” page, construction activity confirms the project is definitely underway. So take that you bunch of pessimistic nerds!

The building will measure just over 16,000 square feet, placing it slightly larger than your typical Walgreens store. The size is consistent with Trader Joe’s standard neighborhood grocery model rather than a large-format supermarket.
If construction continues at its current rate, an opening around mid-2026 is possible. A more conservative estimate would put the store’s opening closer to early Fall 2026.
Additional structural framing and exterior work are expected to continue in the coming months as the project advances toward completion.
