Sticks Billiards & Spirits, a longtime Lafayette billiards hall and bar, is relocating from its former space at 3220 Johnston Street to a new location at 4607 Johnston Street, next door to The District.
The business officially closed its Johnston Street location on May 17th after operating there since 1992. While Sticks has confirmed the move, an opening date for the new location has not yet been announced.
We made multiple attempts to contact Sticks’s ownership for additional details regarding the new space, including renovation plans, capacity, and a projected opening timeline, but have not yet received a response. However, we can expect that the new location will be a more updated version of what many have come to love about Sticks.
The relocation comes as the former Sticks property is being prepared for demolition. Debris fencing, dumpsters, and construction equipment have recently appeared at the site, indicating that demolition could begin in the coming days.

In addition to Sticks, the building was also home to Dawn Nails and a laundromat. Dawn Nails is relocating to 4651 Johnston Street. At the time of writing, no relocation information has been found for the laundromat.
The property was purchased by New Orleans-based developer Craig Ripley, who previously indicated plans to demolish the existing structure and redevelop the site as a new Chipotle restaurant. If completed, the project would become Chipotle’s second Lafayette location.

Ripley also owns the neighboring building that was originally planned for a Starbucks location. While Starbucks ultimately did not move forward with the site, discussions have reportedly taken place regarding another tenant for the space, though no official announcement has been made.
As for a tentative completion date for the new Sticks relocation, with limited details, we estimate a 3-5 month buildout. While timelines could potentially lead to a sooner completion, that would require us having more access to that information.
