Soul Haus(House) Kitchen, a locally owned restaurant serving authentic southern dishes is expanding with a new, second Lafayette Parish location inside of the former Hardee’s space at 110 Hector Connoly in Carencro, Louisiana.
The flagship location for Soul Haus Kitchen opened in September of 2022 at 4150 W Congress Street in the former Jambalaya Shoppe/Krystal Burger space.

The Soul Haus Kitchen menu features a diverse array of Southern dishes, including classics such as red beans & rice, Smothered Chicken, Meat Loaf, Baked Turkey Wings, BBQ Ribs, BBQ Chicken, Gumbo, Fried Catfish, Fried Chicken, Fried Shrimp, and, of course, an assortment of rich sides like potato salad, coleslaw, mac & cheese, collard greens, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, green beans, smothered cabbage, fries, and rice dressing.
Soul Haus Kitchen will also serve up seasonal seafood boil including crawfish during crawfish season.
“Choosing Carencro stemmed from a strategic vision to expand our unique culinary experience into new territories,” said Dang Nguyen, owner of Soul Haus Kitchen.
Inside of the former Carencro Hardee’s
The Hardee’s in Carencro closed in mid-2020, leaving the space a contentious topic in the area for the past four years. Despite numerous rumors circulating about potential replacements, including Raising Cane’s and Chick-fil-A, no new business has taken over the location. One major hurdle seems to be the drive-thru line, which has deterred prospective businesses like Raising Cane’s and Chick-fil-A due to concerns about causing additional issues. The most recent business looking at the space was A&W Restaurant, as previously announced plans were for a location off of Pont des Mouton. However, due to changes brought about by Covid, A&W considered purchasing the former Hardee’s in Carencro instead of building off Port des Mouton. Unfortunately, the deal did not materialize as the asking price for the space was deemed too high at that time.

Nguyen also stated that Carencro was chosen as an ideal location due to its growing community, aligning perfectly with the restaurant’s target demographic and untapped potential. For Soul Haus Kitchen, this is part of a broader strategy to expand to various communities in Louisiana and potentially Texas. The goal is to establish a culinary footprint, enrich local food scenes, and connect with a broader array of patrons seeking an exceptional dining experience.

Tentatively, Soul Haus Kitchen of Carencro is set to open by mid-March. It could be earlier, but you’ll need to keep watch either here or there!
