Shaq’s Big Chicken Eyeing Lafayette, Louisiana After First Lake Charles Location

Shaq’s Big Chicken, the fast-casual chicken concept founded by basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal, is gearing up for a substantial expansion in Louisiana with locations in Lake Charles and Lafayette, Louisiana.

Now for us Lafayette foodies, there is nothing confirmed as far as details or locations where Big Chicken may go yet. However, take your BIGgest guesses as to where they may flock to. Fingers crossed for the North Lafayette area!! South Lafayette has got a cluckin’ ‘nough already!

According to GSR Magazine, accomplished entrepreneurs Gul and Vick Awan will lead the brand’s entry into multiple markets across the state, with Lake Charles as one of their initial development locations. Sharing over 35 years of business experience in retail and restaurants, the Awan family aims to leverage their expertise to enhance the Big Chicken franchise.

Following the launch of their first restaurant in Lake Charles, they plan to further expand throughout South Louisiana with the Lafayette market being next on the menu.

I’d be curious to see how this concept holds up to chicken behemoths Raising Cane’s, Popeye’s, and the coming soon concepts, Super Chix and Southern Classic Chicken (more details on SCC soon).

Awan continues, stating, “There are many chicken concepts in Louisiana, but none of them have the quality ingredients that Big Chicken does. With our many decades of experience in the industry, we are looking forward to learning and growing with them.”

Big Chicken CEO Josh Halpern expresses excitement about Awan’s involvement and the anticipated growth across Louisiana.

“We are BIG time excited to support the Awan’s in their plans for expansion across the state. Here we GROW, Lake Charles!,” said Halpern.

As more details fly the coup, we will do our best to best to chase & catch them.
