Inside Cocodrie Collective’s New Artist-Owned Creative Shop On Settlers Trace Blvd. In Lafayette, LA

Cocodrie Collective, an artist-owned creative shop with an existing location in Downtown Lafayette, has officially expanded with a second location at 500 Settlers Trace Blvd., Suite 5 in Lafayette.

The new location for Cocodrie Collective provides more room to showcase its growing collection of art, gifts, home goods, jewelry, accessories, and other unique finds from independent artists. But the expansion is really about creating more creative space for the community.

Cocodrie Collective was founded by Acadiana native and artist Colette Bernard, who spent about five years in New York while attending Pratt Institute, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2021. After returning home to Lafayette, Bernard continued growing her work as Artist Colette, building a large online following with her art, designs, and popular Career Claw hair clips.

In 2023, Bernard decided to open Cocodrie Collective in Downtown Lafayette, creating a physical space not only for her own work but also for the work of other independent artists and makers.

Cocodrie Collective has been curating work from independent artists throughout Louisiana since 2023, and its new location builds on that mission with both a second storefront and a dedicated creative event space for artist-led workshops, birthday parties, community events, and other hands-on creative experiences.

According to Cocodrie Collective, the goal from the beginning has been to create a place where artists, creative thinkers, and curious people can connect, collaborate, and feel inspired. As the business grew, so did the need for more dedicated space where those connections could happen.
