Billeaud Companies has begun clearing the way for new development at the former Celebrity Theater site in Broussard. The long-standing real estate firm, known for shaping the city’s commercial landscape, determined that repurposing the structure was not feasible and has moved forward with demolition.

Located along U.S. Hwy. 90/I-49 Lafayette Connector, the property sits in a prime commercial corridor near several of Billeaud Companies’ holdings, including retail centers, office spaces, and developable land. Removing the building allows for a fresh site design that maximizes the property’s potential.
“With the building gone, this will open up site planning ideas and give a fresh visualization of what this property can become,” said Paul Eason, Billeaud Companies Board Chairman.
The company plans to parcel out the 8-acre site for a mix of commercial uses, including restaurants, retail, multi-use developments, and fast-food operations along Main Street and Celebrity Drive. This redevelopment aligns with Broussard’s “Envision Broussard” initiative, which aims to enhance the city’s streetscape and walkability.
“There are few things that are certain about real estate investments except for the fact that you have to be prepared to change and adapt,” said Steven Hebert, CEO of Billeaud Companies. “We are off to a better future for this investment and look forward to what this property can become.”
With demolition already underway, Billeaud Companies is moving forward with plans to transform the site into a modern commercial hub.
