BeauBassin Farm & Gardens, a new bed-and-breakfast and event venue, is now open at 890 Chretien Point Road in Sunset, Louisiana.
Owned by Dr. Kenny Arceneaux, BeauBassin Farm & Gardens sits on roughly 15 acres and is built around a mix of curated outdoor spaces, historic architecture, and modern hospitality. The property includes a four-room bed-and-breakfast, a 1,200+ square foot event venue, and multiple landscaped garden areas such as the Potager and Parterre gardens. Additional features include custom-built pigeonniers repurposed into a greenhouse and garden library, along with expansive porches and refined interior spaces designed for both overnight stays and events. The venue has already hosted weddings, showers, reunions, meetings, and photo shoots, with early feedback describing the experience as seamless and memorable.

BeauBassin was developed to offer a more intentional, private destination in Acadiana—combining natural Louisiana landscape with a setting that supports both personal gatherings and professional events. The property also serves as a collaborative backdrop for local vendors, artists, and event professionals.
“BeauBassin was envisioned as a destination—one that allows guests to slow down, connect, and celebrate life’s most meaningful moments.”
At the center of the property is the historic LaTour House, originally constructed between 1835 and 1837 in Ville Platte. Built in the traditional Creole cottage style using bousillage construction, the home later expanded and played a role in the early formation of Ville Platte, including hosting meetings tied to the village’s incorporation in 1858. The structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 before being relocated roughly 22 miles to its current site in 1998.

“BeauBassin—a place rooted in heritage, shaped by purpose, and created to be experienced.”
Arceneaux purchased the property in 2015 and led a multi-year restoration alongside local architect Eddie Cazayoux and interior designer Madeleine Cenac. Over the past eight years, the BeauBassin project has advanced through multiple phases under the guidance of several contractors. The initial phase was completed by Clayton Kidder, Inc., followed by subsequent work by Ocmand Construction. Now in its final stages, the project is under the direction of Mark Mahoney and Anthony Reale of The Mahoney Group, who are overseeing its completion and the final refinements to achieve a cohesive and exceptional finished result.

Operations are led by Arceneaux alongside Amy Vitte (Director of Business Development and Special Events), Alex Clause (Event Coordinator and Bed & Breakfast Manager), and Terry “Brock” Braquet (Culinary Partner and Hospitality Coordinator).
