Construction is moving along on the major Acadiana High School expansion at 315 Rue du Belier in Lafayette (Scott), Louisiana.
We first shared details about the project back in February, and since then, a significant amount of progress has been made.

Actual footage compared to renderings

As you can see in our aerial photos, most of the new addition is now fully framed and enclosed, roofing is in place across the new sections, exterior sheathing has been installed, and crews have already begun applying the finished exterior to portions of the building.
The new main entrance can also be seen, with the large two-story covered entrance structure. Interior construction is also underway, with metal stud framing visible throughout several areas of the addition.

Once complete, the Acadiana High project will add 38 new classrooms, two large sets of student restrooms, two faculty restrooms, and a new administrative area located near the redesigned main entrance.
One of the biggest improvements from the project will be the removal of Acadiana High’s existing portable “Butler” classroom buildings, allowing students to move between permanent classroom spaces without having to leave the main campus buildings.

The overall project also includes improvements to student drop-off, including additional covered space, along with HVAC upgrades and renovations to portions of the existing school.
It is a pretty substantial transformation for the Acadiana High campus, and now that the exterior of the new addition is taking shape, the scale of the project is much easier to see.
The new facilities are currently expected to be ready in July of 2027, ahead of the 2027–2028 school year.
