Growing Grounds Creative Arts Academy Open & Enrolling in Broussard, LA

on

Growing Grounds Creative Arts Academy is now open at 803 S. Morgan Street in Broussard, offering a creative, structured approach to early childhood education for local families.

Founded by Rayna Morrison, the locally owned center serves children from infancy through early childhood, with licensing that allows care up to age 12. The program focuses on a blend of social-emotional development and creative expression, helping children build confidence and discover their interests before entering kindergarten.

“I noticed a gap in early childhood education when it came to social-emotional development and creative expression, and that’s what Growing Grounds is built around.”

The academy operates out of a renovated building that was previously a birthing center. The space has been reworked to include multiple classrooms by age group, a café-style dining area, and a shared playground, with additional classroom space expected to come online as enrollment grows.

Daily programming follows a structured routine, including circle time, movement activities, meditation, and hands-on learning centers. The center also emphasizes independence, encouraging children to manage personal items and develop self-care skills appropriate for their age.

A dedicated dining area allows children to eat meals in a setting designed to reinforce table etiquette and healthy habits, with breakfast, brunch, lunch, and snacks served throughout the day.

“Our goal is that by the time children reach kindergarten, they have a strong sense of confidence, creativity, and a better understanding of who they are.”

Rayna, who has more than 14 years of experience in early childhood education, launched the center alongside her husband Tyren Morrison, a contractor who led much of the building’s renovation. The project began in early 2024 and took more than a year to complete due to permitting and construction timelines.

The center officially opened in January 2025 and hosted a soft grand opening event in April 2025. Enrollment has since grown to around 38 students, with a total capacity of 69.

“Childcare is something where word of mouth is everything—parents want to know their child is cared for, supported, and in a place they can trust. And that’s the experience our families know and love us for.”

Growing Grounds offers both full-time and part-time care options, including a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule for families seeking flexibility. The center is also licensed for evening and weekend care, allowing for additional programs such as parents’ night out.

The academy participates in CCAP and incorporates community-based initiatives aimed at helping families manage childcare costs. As enrollment continues to build, long-term plans include expanding into additional locations across Lafayette Parish.
