It’s been about 10 months since we first shared that Southern Classic Chicken was coming to Lafayette, and now it’s finally starting to look just about finished!

Located at 4603 Johnston Street, the new restaurant now has its official branding colors and signage up. Double drive-thrus are being installed as of this post, and interior work is still underway to get everything prepped for opening.
If you’re not familiar with Southern Classic Chicken, they’re a Shreveport-based chain known for their no-frills, homestyle fried chicken. The menu features combos with bone-in chicken or tenders, along with classic Southern sides like Cajun rice, mashed potatoes with gravy, red beans and rice, cole slaw, and sweet corn grits. They also offer family boxes and kids’ meals, plus dipping sauces like their Classic Sauce, ranch, honey mustard, and white gravy.
The outside of the property is also getting attention, with landscaping expected to roll out in the next phase.
Despite a minor delay earlier this year involving stolen equipment from the site, the project is finally nearing completion.
Southern Classic Chicken is expected to officially open in Lafayette on May 22.
