Downtown’s Gelato & Espresso Bar, Carpe Diem!—located at 812 Jefferson Street—is one of the area’s sweeter staples. Earlier during the year, Carpe Diem displayed for sale signs, which are no longer being displayed. This comes after some newly invested interest from a couple who are part owners of a nearby business, Pamplona.
Andrew & Liz Payne of Pamplona have entered a partnership with the existing Carpe Diem ownership by investing in the company with plans to completely renovate the Downtown gelato & espresso bar in the near future.
Carpe Diem’s renovations will include a warmer, cozier feel with fresh paint, newly installed banquettes along the wall, alternative lighting, added seating, bar tops, and a variety of other needed changes. Expansions to the menu will also take place by adding a specially designed crepe menu, a wine bar, gluten-free baked goods, and expanded coffee bar. The gelato, however, will not be changed—at all—for it is sacred.
