Trader Joe’s is confirmed to be coming soon to Lafayette, Louisiana, according to DL acquired documents. The new 16,500-square-foot store will be built at 1710 Camellia Boulevard, near River Ranch.
If you’ve never shopped at Trader Joe’s, the store is known for its unique grocery selection, private-label products, and seasonal items.
Most locations feature a neighborhood-style design, and while plans for the Lafayette store haven’t been released, we can expect it to follow a similar format.

This will be Lafayette’s first Trader Joe’s location, adding to the brand’s existing Louisiana stores in Baton Rouge and Metairie. Recent reports also show that Trader Joe’s is building two new locations in the City of New Orleans, according to NOLA.com.
For years, talk of the popular grocery chain coming to Lafayette has floated around, but without solid proof, we could not speak on it. That changed in the past 24 hours when we, Developing Lafayette, secured multiple official documents explicitly naming Trader Joe’s for the Lafayette, Louisiana. And while key contacts aren’t saying much (darn, NDAs), this is enough to safely confirm the project is moving forward.

The site for the new Trader Joe’s of Lafayette sits along Camellia Boulevard near River Ranch, in a high-traffic area surrounded by neighborhoods, restaurants, and retail. The development will take over currently vacant land, turning it into a new retail anchor for the corridor—alongside Rouses just a block or two over.
According to the documents in our possession (shown below), construction is set to start October 6, 2025, with an estimated completion date of April 20, 2026.
