Site work is officially underway for the new Trader Joe’s location coming soon at 1710 Camellia Boulevard in Lafayette, Louisiana.
According to our friendlies at The Acadiana Advocate, the property sale closed this week, clearing the way for construction to begin. Crews are now able to move forward with groundwork and foundation preparation at the corner of Camellia Boulevard and Bluebird Drive, directly across from Rouses Market. Yeah, we know—diabolical.
Crews on-site for new Trader Joe’s of Lafayette
The Lafayette Trader Joe’s is planned to be a 16,500-square-foot grocery store located on a prominent corner property. It will feature parking and access designed around the existing roadway infrastructure. Groundwork for the project is being completed by Triton Construction, the same company currently performing site and foundation work for the new Buc-ee’s development underway in north Lafayette near the I-10 and Louisiana Avenue corridor.
As of now, no official construction timeline or opening date has been provided. Based on typical construction timelines for a project of this scale, we estimate completion could be expected in mid to late 2026. As always, construction progress is subject to weather conditions, permitting, material availability, and other factors. It’s just the nature of that beast, ya dig.
