Sombreros Mexican Restaurant, a Louisiana-based Tex-Mex eatery is expanding to Lafayette with a new location coming soon to the former Chili’s space at 1734 West Pinhook Road.
The former Chili’s space closed back in November of last year, 2024.
According to their website, Sombreros is founded on a commitment to freshness and flavor. They are recognized for serving grain-fed Braveheart Angus Beef and maintaining high standards across all of its kitchens. The Lafayette restaurant is expected to continue that focus on quality food and service.
The new location will feature the full Sombreros menu, including fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, burritos, and chimichangas, along with the restaurant’s well-known margaritas and cocktail selections. Lafayette guests can expect the same menu offerings and consistency that have made the Walker and Alexandria locations local favorites.

Catering and private party options will also be available in Lafayette upon opening.
Construction is underway, with the new Sombreros Mexican Restaurant tentatively set to open in early December of this year.
