A regional restaurant chain called Sharks Fish & Chicken is coming soon to 312 Jefferson Blvd. in Lafayette, taking over the former Burger King building at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Evangeline Thruway, aka the future corridor of I-49. The building has been vacant for about a year, but now there’s some action inside!
Bright orange banners on-site read “Sharks Coming Soon.” Based on their Facebook page, this location is part of a regional chain with a footprint across Arkansas, Oklahoma, and possibly other parts of Louisiana, including a location in Shreveport. When we did a “quick Google,” we only became more confused, honestly. There seem to be other versions of this restaurant name under different branding. Is it part of the same company? We doubt it. But it’s still confusing.
While it’s not yet clear if all “Sharks” locations are officially affiliated, the offerings appear consistent—big portions of fried catfish, wings, shrimp, hush puppies, fries, and other comfort classics served up in platters and party trays.
There’s no official word yet on when the Lafayette location will open, but renovations are actively underway.
