Scrappie Studio, A New Art Supply Shop & Creative Community Space in Lafayette, LA

on

Scrappie Studio, a new art supply shop and creative community space, is now in its soft opening phase at 2116 Johnston Street in Lafayette, right next door to Izzo’s Illegal Burrito.

Founded by local artists Preslie Such and Raeleigh Boyd, Scrappie was born out of a need for more accessible art resources in Lafayette. The pair wanted to create a space where artists could shop for quality supplies and connect with the community, without relying on big-box chains like Hobby Lobby as the only option in town.

The shop carries a mix of fine art supplies and locally made goods, including ceramics, stickers, apparel, and one-of-a-kind pieces. Scrappie also operates an online store and offers subscription options that deliver exclusive stickers, prints, and other creative items each month.

Inside, the studio is designed for hands-on creativity. Weekly classes cover ceramics, painting, printmaking, beadweaving, and more, while one-day workshops will feature activities like cake decorating and felt crafts. The space is also available for birthdays, team gatherings, and casual community events.

A big part of Scrappie’s mission is to support local makers. Artists can sell their work in the shop on consignment and apply to teach classes, gaining both income and exposure.

The founders describe the studio as a welcoming “third space” — not home or work, but a spot where people can gather, create, and connect.

Scrappie Studio is open online now, with its Johnston Street storefront officially opening in phases during this soft launch.
