Land clearing at the corner of 1100 E Pont des Mouton & Louisiana Avenue near I-10 is making way for a new, proposed commercial development.
While still in the preliminary stages, the 27-acre development is proposed to include several types of businesses, such as a major grocery retailer, a mid-sized hotel with over 100 rooms, a strip mall with multiple tenants, two separate retail buildings with multiple tenants, a gas station, and a restaurant. The development will also include ample parking, a roundabout, and a large detention pond.
Preliminary Plans
This area is poised for growth, as there have been many new large national companies investing in this area of Lafayette, including Aldi, RaceTrac, and a Tesla charging station. The complete overhaul of Brown Park is currently in progress, and the future of this corridor looks healthier than ever. Additionally, this corridor is already a major destination for many surrounding communities, including Breaux Bridge, Carencro, Scott, and of course, North Lafayette.

For now, this development is proposed and will take some of the aforementioned industries to take the chance on the project for it to come to fruition.
