Pieces of Eight, the long-standing Lafayette gift shop at 5427 Johnston Street in the Time Plaza Center, is in the middle of a major expansion that will nearly double its size ahead of the holiday rush.
The shop’s current 3,500-square-foot space is being extended by about 2,700 additional square feet, bringing the total footprint to just over 6,200 square feet once complete. Construction began toward the end of September, with crews opening the adjoining wall to connect the new space with the existing showroom.

Once finished, the updated layout will feature expanded flooring, new lighting, and upgraded display areas—all aimed at creating a more open, comfortable shopping environment. According to the team, the expansion will give customers more room to breathe while enhancing the overall experience of browsing their selection of gifts, home décor, stationery, and registry items.

The newly enlarged space is expected to open later this month, just in time for Lafayette’s holiday shopping season.

You’ll also find that Miller’s Tuxedo Rentals and Southern Jewelers recently relocated into the Time Plaza center next door to Pieces of Eight. These moves makes perfect sense, honestly.
