A new amphitheater is coming soon to Heymann Park in Lafayette, Louisiana, replacing one of the park’s existing baseball fields with a modern outdoor venue. The park, owned by Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG), is located at 1500 S. Orange Street along the Vermilion River across from Vermilionville.

Phase 1 of the park’s improvements, valued at $4.68 million, was awarded to Castle Row Construction of Lafayette, according to reporting by Claire Taylor of The Advocate. The project includes the amphitheater as its centerpiece, along with restrooms, a vendor pavilion, dedicated vendor and performer parking, and a new public parking lot. Drainage upgrades, utilities, and landscaping are also part of the plan.

Funding for the project is coming from a mix of state capital outlay, local sales tax revenue, and bond proceeds. City officials say additional improvements are being considered for Heymann Park, including upgrades to existing facilities and better community access. However, those future phases will depend on available funding. Council member Kenneth Boudreaux and other leaders have voiced support for seeing the project through, with the amphitheater positioned as a major new gathering space for Lafayette.
Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025 with completion projected for late 2026, pending final approval of state funding in the Capital Outlay process.
