Off The Hook, a Louisiana-based Cajun seafood restaurant, is preparing to open a new location at 101 Liberty Avenue in Lafayette, in the former home of Viva La Waffle.
Founded in 2012 in Thibodaux, Off The Hook has steadily expanded across the state with locations in Baton Rouge, Gonzales, Houma, Hammond, Walker, Denham Springs, and Thibodaux. The company recently increased its leadership team to help fuel additional growth, with plans to open multiple restaurants each year and reach dozens of locations statewide over the next decade.

The brand operates under the slogan “Real Cajun. Real Fast,” offering a menu filled with Louisiana staples such as shrimp and catfish platters, po’boys, gumbo, crawfish étouffée, and red beans and rice. Seasonal specials highlight Gulf seafood and often feature collaborations with iconic Louisiana brands like TABASCO®. Catering and online ordering are also key parts of the business model.
The Liberty Avenue building is well-positioned for a fast turnaround. Since it most recently operated as Viva La Waffle, the space is already a fully functioning restaurant and has just received a new occupancy certificate. With the structure cleared for operation, renovations are expected to be minimal—new signage, paint, décor updates, and rebranding for Off The Hook’s appearance. This means the Lafayette location could be ready in as little as two to four months, or potentially sooner if buildout remains light.

The new Lafayette location for Off The Hook’s provides a firm base for growing its Louisiana footprint, bringing the chain closer to its goal of becoming a major Cajun quick-casual presence across the state.
While no official date has been announced, the recent occupancy approval suggests that it could be open really soon.
