Northgate Mall Purchased Locally, Plans For Revitalization

on

Northgate Mall in North Lafayette, Louisiana was recent purchased by local contractor Jacoby Landry for approximately $2.8 million. The 20-acre site, located at 1800 NE Evangeline Thruway, includes over 200,000 square feet of enclosed commercial space and will be converted into a mixed-use business center aimed at reactivating the corridor.

Initial work includes structural stabilization and plans to retain existing tenants. Future phases, expected to roll out over the next few years, will bring a mix of small retail shops, professional offices, a boutique medi-spa, a fitness center, and indoor pickleball courts.

The Northgate Mall has remained opened for years with many local businesses operating inside. The most notable businesses are Home Sweet Home, Ebony’s Beauty Hair & Skin, Invincible Printing, and several more.

The project is being developed by Landry, who is based in Breaux Bridge and was selected to participate in the Elevate North Lafayette Program, a redevelopment initiative created by LEDA. Through this program, Landry is receiving support from national redevelopment advisors as well as strategic and financial guidance tailored for adaptive reuse.

Additional assistance is being provided by the Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority under the Northway Economic Development District.

The long-term goal for the property is to create a destination that supports local entrepreneurship and brings new amenities to the area.

Finalized plans are expected soon, with construction to follow.
