Situated on 2.87 acres, purchased for just over $2.25 million, the new ~12,000-square-foot Texas-inspired ice house concept will feature a large, connected indoor and outdoor gathering space along with lots of parking. The dog-friendly outdoor yard is expected to feature turf rather than gravel, along with lots of shaded seating, large air moving fans, TVs, propane heaters throughout, and a mix of seating options.
Braden Eddy, who led the investment on the project, said, “We’re excited to bring a new community-focused gathering place to the area. Our goal is to serve as an anchor for the vibrant development around us and create a welcoming ‘common backyard’ that complements the people and places that make Lafayette special.”

Provided Rendering, more to come
Food service will center around food trucks, with at least one truck operating on site. The model allows for rotating menus while providing local food truck operators with a consistent place to serve customers.
Existing mature oak trees on the property will be preserved wherever possible and were a key factor in selecting the site.
The term “ice houses” originated in the early 1900s as places to buy ice and cold drinks and have evolved into casual indoor-outdoor gathering spots similar to beer gardens. The concept is inspired by others commonly found in cities like Houston, Austin, and Dallas and is intended to complement the surrounding development rather than compete with it.
The Bluebird Drive corridor has seen significant growth in recent years, with restaurants, entertainment, offices, retail, grocery, and financial services moving into the area. This was all highly considered in the site selection process.
Branding, final naming, renderings, and construction timelines will be announced soon. Additional details will be shared as the project progresses.
