A new, 12,389 sq. ft. Evangeline Maid Bakery Retail & Distribution Center is under construction at the 500 block of Albertson Parkway in Broussard.
We have been following this project for some time, but only recently have we noticed the framing of the building taking place. Some of you guys knock our slab posts, so I waited until there was more!
According to available local history, Evangeline Maid Bread was founded by the Huval family in Youngsville back in 1919 and later was relocated into Lafayette in 1926. In fact, the famous Evangeline Maid logo herself was modeled after the founders’ oldest daughter of 10, Mary Huval.
So when it comes to bread, Evangeline Maid is the GOAT(greatest of all time) and it’s the only bread that we buy in our household. It’s local and just plain good. We buy the small old-fashioned loaf, and it serves our tummies well.
If you have just moved to Lafayette or to the Acadiana area and have never tried Evangeline Maid bread, then we highly recommend it. They even have Texas toast. So you have no excuses, mmkay.
