Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken Coming Soon to Former KFC on Ambassador Caffery

on

A new Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken location is coming soon to 3328 Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette, taking over the former KFC building that closed earlier this year around July.

The building is currently being renovated and repainted in the company’s signature orange color scheme, which has led to several slides into our DMs.

Founded in Los Angeles in 1976 by Joe Dion, Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken combines California roots with Louisiana flavor. An odd combination, but hey, whatever. According to the company’s website, Dion developed the original recipe after spending time in New Orleans with renowned chef Paul Prudhomme, creating a zesty Cajun batter that delivers a crispy “soft crunch” texture with a subtle spicy kick.

What began as a single Los Angeles restaurant has since expanded across multiple states, with each store independently owned and operated under the brand’s licensing model. In 2009, businessman Michael P. Eng acquired the brand from Dion, continuing its growth and strengthening its reputation as a go-to destination for authentic, Louisiana-style fried chicken.

Is it weird that it was founded in Los Angeles? Sure. But is it good? That is all that matters.

The menu features signature crispy fried chicken, fried fish, shrimp, and classic Southern sides like red beans and rice—all seasoned with the brand’s signature spice blend that pays homage to Louisiana’s rich food culture.

An official opening date has yet to be announced, but updates are expected soon as renovations shouldn’t take too long.
