This preschool will have the capacity to accommodate 181 children and will be the first Christian Montessori preschool in the Lafayette area. It aims to provide a unique early childhood education experience rooted in faith and based on the proven Montessori method. Classrooms will feature certified lead teachers, each supported by an assistant and a floater, ensuring a lower child-to-staff ratio and a personalized learning experience for every student.

Founded by husband & wife team, Dillon & Chrystal Quebedeaux, Little Light of Mine is built on a deep love for children and a passion for fostering their growth. The mission of the school is to provide a safe, loving, and unique experience for every child entrusted to their care. At Little Light of Mine, students learn in an environment that promotes respect, independence, and student-led learning, allowing them to grow at their own pace in a nurturing, faith-based setting.
Chrystal, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies and an Early Childhood Teaching Certification, brings nearly 20 years of experience working with young children in teaching, social work, and child care leadership.
“I’m super excited to start a positive movement in the child care industry,”said Chrystal Quebedeaux, Co-Founder.

The Montessori method, developed by Maria Montessori, is a scientifically backed approach to early learning that encourages children to explore and learn through hands-on experiences. The curriculum focuses on five key areas of study: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Cultural Studies. Students at Little Light of Mine will not only develop essential academic skills but also gain independence, confidence, and real-world problem-solving abilities.
The inspiration behind Little Light of Mine is deeply personal. The idea for the school was born while Chrystal and Dillon walked through an unimaginable journey—being by their 3-year-old daughter Emmy’s side as she battled stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer. Their faith, love, and commitment to providing a wholesome, enriching space for children became the foundation of this new academy.
