A new Asian restaurant combining Korean BBQ and Hot Pot, called KPot, is coming soon to Lafayette, Louisiana, in the Courtyards shopping center at 3605 Ambassador Caffery, the former Tuesday Morning space.

According to the KPot website, they offer a unique, all-you-can-eat dining experience that blends traditional Asian cooking techniques, like Hot Pot and Korean BBQ, to create a communal atmosphere that promotes conversation and adventurous eating.

Founded by four friends from various backgrounds, the business was designed as a blended concept that highlights their different origins over a shared table. Beyond the food itself, the idea of KPot is to provide a modernized approach to hot pot and Korean BBQ that features a full bar, large gathering tables, and a nightlife atmosphere that is great for date nights or other intimate settings.

So what is Hot Pot? If you’ve ever been to The Melting Pot, it’s based on that type of concept. It is a cooking style that involves a simmering pot of broth where friends & family gather to cook various meats, seafood, veggies, and noodles. KPot gives you several options of broth flavors as well so that each guest can customize their meal to their individual taste.

Okay, so what is Korean BBQ and how is it different than regular BBQ? Essentially, in terms of technique, it’s no different than your Uncle Joe cooking BBQ on the open flame pit in the backyard. The main difference, aside from the flavors, is that with Korean BBQ the open flame grill is built directly into the dining table allowing for a more social & interactive experience. Everything goes back to the communal experience and bringing people together with good food and conversation.

As for tentative opening or completion dates, we know that the permit has been pending since November. Typically, when permits are pulled, construction begins pretty soon thereafter. However, permits do allow for a 6-month window for construction to begin. Either way, we should expect to see action in the space pretty soon.
