You may have heard that JCPenny, located inside of the Acadiana Mall, would be closing. There were even signs stating that the store would closing. However, that is no longer the case!
In an official statement by Mason Asset Management, they state that they have “worked diligently in negotiating with JCPenney, and we are pleased to share that the store will be remaining open at Acadiana Mall.”
The Acadiana Mall is one of Lafayette Parish’s top revenue-generating properties with many small business owners and employed locals doing their best to make a living. It is vital for the property to maintain working relationships with larger anchor retailers as they are part of what draws foot traffic for the smaller businesses within the mall’s corridors. There is already a large vacancy where the former Sear’s was located, which would make a great space for something if anyone is interested.
Long live the Acadiana Mall.
