A new coffee shop, Black Cat Coffee House, is now open at 4016 Moss Street in North Lafayette.
We visited Black Cat Coffee House on their first day, their “soft opening”, on Monday, November 13th. And while they have been open for just over a week, we didn’t want to have too many people rush the business as they needed some time to break it in.
During our visit, we ordered “Coffee Milk”. You know, the coffee milk that maw-maw used to make for us Cajun Country kids. The owner’s initial reaction to my order was “What’s that?”, haha! Thankfully, one of her talented & knowledgeable baristas knew what I wanted and delivered that childhood elixir that I had been craving! After getting our coffee milk, we found ourselves a comfortable little spot to knock out some quick work. It’s a nice space!
Yes, that’s our coffee milk!
Founded by 19-year-old entrepreneur Gethsemany Aguirre, Black Cat Coffee House’s inspiration comes from the founder’s love for coffee and her experiences at Craze on Johnston. Her vision was to open a coffee house with a unique blend of flavors with a meaningful purpose.
The building, constructed by her father in 2008, is special and located in a part of Lafayette where Aguirre feels the most impact can be made.
Now that the Black Cat Coffee House is open, they will donate a portion of sales to local animal shelters like The Acadiana Animal Aid, emphasizing her commitment to community involvement.
Black Cat Coffee House will have an official Grand Opening soon, but for now, we think it’s safe to say that they are ready to get brewing.
