Empanada Guy, a locally founded business creating gourmet empanadas is expanding out of their home and into a storefront formerly occupied by Fixin’ To Be Fit, at 808 South Saint Blaise Lane Suite C in Youngsville, Louisiana.
Luciano and Laura, a husband and wife team, started making empanadas in their home kitchen a year ago under the cottage law, which permits certain home-based food businesses to operate. Thanks to the support of the local community, the company has experienced significant growth over the past year.
Luciano, who comes from Argentina, and Laura, who is from Lafayette have quite literally married flavors from both of their cultures together creating a product that has become increasingly popular around Lafayette Parish.

So what is an empanada? Well, it’s more than the former sweet fried treat at Taco Bell. An empanada originates from the Spain region of the world and is popular amongst many Latin American countries. It consists of a dough that is folded or sometimes rolled around either a sweet or savory filling. Typically, empanadas include seasoned meats like beef, chicken, or pork, that are mixed with veggies, cheeses, and other various combinations. The sweet version of the dish can include fruits, sweetened cheeses, or other sweet fillings. Personally, I like an apple empanada, partly because of the Taco Bell product. Don’t judge me! We are excited to get a chance to try the Empanada Guy’s product for the first time and to get a taste of a real empanada. Honestly, they look like the specialty meat pies from the boudin places near I-10. So if it is anything close to that, we are going to love it!
The Empanada Guy will begin operating out of the new space this weekend! So follow their socials, linked below, to find out more!
