A few months back, we shared that Dutch Bros Coffee is coming soon to 5711 Johnston Street in Lafayette, at the former Regions Bank site in front of the Acadiana Mall. This is literally right across the street from Starbucks, y’all! Talk about a bold move.

Former Regions Bank Building Set For Demo
Demolition of the old bank building is about to begin, with fencing now in place, making way for construction of a new 950-square-foot Dutch Bros location. The new coffee stop will include a two-lane drive-thru and walk-up windows only, with no indoor seating. The layout is similar in size and style to other compact coffee shops like Scooter’s and 7Brew, which also just started construction in Lafayette.

Generic rendering of Dutch Bros.
This will be Dutch Bros’ second confirmed Louisiana location, following Baton Rouge. They are known for energetic service and a menu of specialty coffees, cold brews, teas, and energy drinks. The brand should be a solid fit along this busy stretch of Johnston Street.
And yes, believe it or not, Lafayette can absolutely support more coffee. I know — hard to wrap your head around that concept while cars are literally wrapped around many of the coffee shops that we have now.
As with many smaller footprint builds like this, construction is usually quick. We estimate that Dutch Bros. Coffee could be open before the end of the year.
