Cuban Traditions Restaurant Coming Soon to Former Home Cut Donuts Location in Lafayette, LA

on

The former Home Cut Donuts building at the corner of Ambassador Caffery and 5611 Johnston Street in Lafayette, LA is being demolished following interior wall damage. A new Cuban-owned restaurant, Cuban Traditions, will be built from the slab up in its place.

The new restaurant, owned by Yury, will be two stories. The first floor will be about 75% kitchen space, with the rest set aside for accessible dining and order pickup. The second floor will feature additional dining surrounded by large glass windows.

A notable feature of the restaurant will be two large “Cajun microwaves,” which are glass-enclosed roasting boxes capable of roasting whole pigs.

The menu will feature true, authentic Cuban cuisine. The owner makes sure to clarify that by stating this isn’t a fusion restaurant that combines another cuisine type. This will be fully Cuban.

Demolition is underway, with construction expected to start in the next two to four weeks. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of this year or early 2026.

We will have more details in the coming weeks, so follow if you are not already!

Needed to be demo’d. Lots of rotted wood.
