In business and in life if you’re not current, then you’re going to be put out to pasture. If you pay any attention to your surroundings while cruising Lafayette, you may see updates happening to older places. Updates bring in new life and a freshness that is needed to stay “hip”. This week, I noticed that T.J. Maxx had some scaffolding around the front. Judging purely on face value and not actually looking into the permits. You can see they’re making updates to the store front. Similar to that of Applebee’s updating their store front and building; it has to be done in order to appeal to modern consumers. I am about to go off on another tangent, but consider Pepsi and their brands image over the past few decades. It has changed nearly every ten years. They’re doing this to appeal to the younger crowd, those who will actually buy their product. Now, if you’re reading this and think you need to change your brands image, stop. What about Coca Cola? Their logo really hasn’t changed at all in over 100 years, but their messages have changed often and it works for them. Okay, I am done now. If you are stuck in a rut, shift into high gear and change something. In the words of Joe Dirt, “life’s a garden, dig it, make it work for you”. I love that quote by the way.
