Fish Box Sushi Expanding to Broussard with Second Acadiana Location

on

Fish Box Sushi, the locally owned fast-casual sushi concept known for its innovative self-service, pay-by-weight dining model, is expanding with a second Acadiana location coming soon to 6922 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, Suite 103, at Caffery Row Retail Center in Broussard.

The new location will feature the same custom self-serve layout as the Lafayette location. Plans include a dedicated fresh-prep kitchen, modern refrigerated display cases, and an efficient customer flow allowing guests to quickly select their sushi & pay by weight.

“We opened our first location in Lafayette with a clear vision: to make high-quality sushi fast, flexible, affordable, and accessible through a self-serve, pay-by-weight model,” said Fish Box owners.

Fish Box Sushi first opened in September 2025 at 530 Settlers Trace Boulevard in one of Lafayette’s newest apartment developing, The Waters at Settlers Trace. Founded by four co-owners, the restaurant introduced a concept that differs from traditional sushi restaurants by allowing customers to choose as much or as little sushi as they want without being stuck to full rolls or waiting for made-to-order table service. The focus is on providing fresh, premium sushi in a fast, flexible, and affordable format.

“The concept resonated quickly with the Lafayette community,” said Fish Box. “Within months we built a loyal following, refined our menu and operations based on customer and kitchen feedback, integrated with DoorDash and established ourselves as an innovative addition to Acadiana’s dining scene.”

According to the owners of Fish Box, Broussard was the natural choice for the company’s first expansion due to the city’s continued residential and commercial growth. They say the area’s family-oriented atmosphere and strong economic momentum align well with the Fish Box Sushi concept and will allow them to serve even more of the Acadiana region.

Construction on the Broussard location is expected to take about 3 to 5 months, once permits are pulled. While an official opening date has not yet been announced, we estimate that they could be open before the end of the year.
