A new locally owned coffee shop, The Louisiana Bean, is coming soon to downtown Carencro at 208 E Saint Peter Street, Carencro, LA.
Founded in 2020 by Shelby and Daniel Schwing, The Louisiana Bean began as a shared interest in exploring local coffee shops and experimenting with different flavors. That interest turned into serving coffee to friends and family, and by the end of 2020, the interest expanded into event services, including a 250-person youth gathering followed by wedding catering. In January 2021, the business officially launched as a mobile coffee cart.

As demand continued to grow, the couple began searching for a more efficient and long-term setup. In 2021, they transitioned into a coffee truck after acquiring and renovating a former bread truck. The truck launched in April 2022 and has since served customers throughout Lafayette and the surrounding areas at various events. The upcoming downtown Carencro location will mark The Louisiana Bean’s first permanent brick-and-mortar space.
Inside of the new coffee shop
The Louisiana Bean’s menu features a full range of classic and specialty coffee drinks, available hot, iced, or blended. Coffee offerings include drip coffee, espresso, Americanos, lattes, mochas, caramel macchiatos, and frappes, along with a lineup of signature drinks such as the Atchafalaya, Magnolia, French Quarter, Spicy Cajun, The Teche, and a Biscoff Latte.
In addition to coffee, the shop offers tea and non-coffee options, including chai and matcha lattes, hot and iced tea, Italian sodas, lemonade, and a selection of energy refreshers with flavors like Baby Shark, Creamsicle, Bayou Peach, and Cajun Colada. Drinks can be customized with a wide variety of flavors, alternative milks, cold foam, sweet cream, or additional espresso or energy shots.
They do plan to offer food items as well, but you will need to make a visit when they open to explore their limited menu! 🙂
The Magnolia
During my visit to the new Carencro location to gather information for this post, they offered me a coffee drink. I opted for the magnolia coffee, which is a combination of white chocolate, coconut, and vanilla. It was so good! It’s clear that they enjoy their coffee.
The opening for the new downtown Carencro location is set for January 30th. Following the opening, The Louisiana Bean will operate Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
