Buc-ee’s Still Coming to Lafayette—Project on Temporary Hold Amid Design & Weather Delays

on

If you’ve passed by the northeast corner of I-10 and Louisiana Avenue lately and noticed little to no activity at the future Buc-ee’s site, you’re not alone. We’ve been getting plenty of tags and messages asking the same question: “Is Buc-ee’s still coming to Lafayette?”

The short answer—yes, it’s still happening.

According to Triton Construction, the general contractor on the project, construction is currently on pause due to a combination of design delays and poor weather conditions.

“The job is currently at a standstill due to some design delays. The weather has also been terrible. So with those two issues, us (Triton), the general contractor, and owner decided to hold off for now and wait for better weather conditions,” a Triton representative shared. “There are no issues between contractor and owner. Everyone is on the same page. We have recently been in discussions to get back out there. I don’t have a date yet but should be happening soon.”

The temporary standstill doesn’t signal a change of plans—just a short delay. Once weather conditions improve, the crews are expected to resume work.

Buc-ee’s first announced its coming soon Lafayette location back in December 2024, generating plenty of buzz from locals excited to welcome the Texas-based chain. Known for its oversized convenience stores, clean restrooms, and rows of fuel pumps, Buc-ee’s is a favorite stop for travelers and road-trippers across the South.
