Empanada Guy, a locally founded business specializing in gourmet empanadas, will be opening its first full-featured location inside of the now-former Café 20.3 On The Bayou, located at 1500 General Mouton in Lafayette.
Without going into much detail, Café 20.3 On The Bayou has officially closed its doors.

Empanadas typically include seasoned meats like beef, chicken, or pork, that are mixed with veggies, cheeses, and other various combinations. The sweet version of the dish can include fruits, sweetened cheeses, or other sweet fillings. Personally, I like an apple empanada, partly because of the former Taco Bell version.
Empanada Guy is the brainchild of Luciano and Laura, a husband and wife team who began crafting empanadas in their home kitchen a little over a year ago. Under the cottage law, which permits certain home-based food businesses, they quickly garnered a loyal following within the community. Their unique fusion of Argentine and Lafayette flavors has captivated the taste buds of many, contributing to their rapid growth and success.
In May of this year, we announced that the Empanada Guy had opened a shared storefront in Youngsville, LA. However, the storefront did not work out as expected, and they returned to operating from their home for about 4 weeks. Then, this new opportunity opened up.
“We are very excited about this. And the customers are supporting us a lot,” said Luciano, co-owner at Empanada Guy.
The first, official Empanada Guy location is set to open its doors in about 2-3 weeks. Slight renovations are being made to the former Café 20.3 space to suit the needs for producing their product. There are also plans in the works to improve the outside dining space and clean up the river frontage, which features a boat dock and kayak ramps. The goal is to create a space that exemplifies the Argentinian-Cajun culture of the family to be shared with their guests.
