Viva La Waffle, the famous food truck known for making food trucks a thing in Lafayette back in the early 2010s is making a triumphant return in 2020 of all years.
The new location of Viva La Waffle will be located in the former DIX, located at 101 Liberty Ave. And for the first time in forever, you’ll be able to enjoy their delicious waffle creations by dining inside or hitting up the drive-thru.
Announcing the news on Facebook, Viva La Waffle produced a short, suspenseful teaser video that gives us all the feels. In the video, a slow-moving shot hones in on a lonely waffle iron. As the suspense rises, and the shot moves in closer to the iron, a little light comes on signifying renewed life. See the video below.
Back in the day, when Viva was running on all cylinders, we loved their buffalo chicken waffle and the waffle dog with maple mustard. I think it goes without saying, we are excited!
Changes to the former DIX include removing the porch to make the drive-thru line loop around the building. Because you know this is going to be packed.
The tentative date for opening isn’t 100% confirmed, but it is set to open before the end of 2020. A welcomed positive change for what has been a challenging year for all.
